Gilbert, Arizona has the lowest unemployment in the Valley of the Sun at 4.4% followed by Scottsdale, Chandler and Tempe. Mesa, selected as home to Apple's manufacturing center for sapphire glass operated by GT Advanced Technologies, is currently listed as No. 6. But once the sapphire glass production line is up and running to provide glass for Apple products beginning with the IPhone 6, Mesa is expected to better its position in the list of Southeast Valley cities with the lowest unemployment.
Contributing to the success of Gilbert, Chandler and Tempe to attract or develop new business ventures is their high rate of adults 25 years of age and older having at least a bachelor's degree or better, as reported in the U.S. Census Gilbert and Chandler were tied at 40% and Tempe, AZ leads at 41%.
Not suprisingly, these cities are well known for their excelling school districts that are the envy of the rest of the Phoenix Metro area.
Gilbert has recently been named the safest city in Arizona and in the top 100 safest cities in the U.S. The southeast valley, led by Gilbert, offers a very high quality of life in an idyllic suburban environment.
