The State of Arizona actively encourages the formation of tuition-free Arizona Charter Schools which are privately built and publicly subsidized by the State of Arizona to provide school choice for parents dissatisfied with their neighborhood public schools. Public Schools receive more operating capital from property taxes than Arizona Charter Schools who rely solely upon the State of Arizona student subsidy reimbursement. But Public Schools realize they have to offer strong core classes and specialty courses of study to compete with Arizona Charter Schools to attract students.
Parents and students are interviewed and offered admittance into an Arizona Charter School based upon space availability and parent and student agreement the student will arrive at school on time every day, participate in classroom discussions without being disruptive and turn in all assigned homework when due to earn the privilege of remaining in the school. Failure to do so will result in the student being expelled from an Arizona Charter School and return to the assigned public school.
Arizona Charter School students and their parents recognize the importance of a good education and are taking important strides for the student's success in school. Working in an environment where all students want to be in school to learn certainly betters the opportunity for success. But Arizona Charter Schools do not turn away students with low aptitude scores and Arizona Charter Schools do not always score the highest achievement grades as the most current Maricopa County School Achievement Grades and Pinal County School Achievement Grades show.
Arizona Charter Schools offer a tuition-free choice and a supportive environment with students, parents, and teachers vested in the student's success. But an individual student still has to do the work to master learning and memory skills.
