2011-2012 Arizona Department of Education Letter Grades for all Tempe Schools

 

Arizona Department of Education recently released letter grades A – D for all Arizona School Districts and their individual schools to provide parents a measure of school performance based upon the 2011 - 2012 school year standardized test results. 

The City of Tempe Arizona is served by three school districts: 1.) Kyrene Elementary School District, 2.) Tempe Elementary School District and 3.) Tempe Union High School District.

BREAKDOWN OF SCHOOL BY LETTER GRADE

A” rating = Excelling or Exceptional

B” rating = Highly Performing or Above Average

C” rating = Average school performance

D” rating = Underperforming Schools *

NOTE: * Underperforming schools must improve their grade within three years to avoid being taken over by the Arizona Department of Education to impose corrective action or close down.

 

Kyrene Elementary School District includes 25 schools with the following letter grade:

A” – 15 schools

B” – 9 schools

C” – 1 school

D” – 0 schools

 

Tempe Elementary School District includes 21 schools with the following letter grade:

A” – 6 schools

B” – 7 schools

C” – 7 schools

D” – 1 school

 

Tempe Unioin High School District includes 6 schools with the following letter grade:

A” – 3 schools

B” – 3 schools

C” – 0 schools

D” – 0 schools

 

IMPACT OF HIGHER STANDARDS

When comparing Kyrene Elementary School District school year 2010 - 2011 to 2011 - 2012 letter grades, four (4) Kyrene Elementary schools improved their letter grade including four (3) that were elevated to the highest “A” letter grade, while one (1) advanced to “B” letter grade.

When comparing Tempe Elementary School District school year 2010 - 2011 to 2011 - 2012 letter grades, two (2) Tempe Elementary schools were elevated to “B” letter grade, while one (1) declined to “D” letter grade.

And when comparing Tempe Union High School District school year 2010 - 2011 to 2011 - 2012 letter grades, there were no changes.

Congratulations are extended to Tempe for raising school letter grades as higher standards are imposed and maintaining Kyrene Elementary and Tempe Union High School District Letter Grade of “Aand Tempe Elementary School District Letter Grade of a “B.
